Hazard and Risk Assessment

Description

This course examines the ongoing changing hazards of the 21st century and explores various approaches to disaster risk management. The course consists of an in-depth exploration of hazard, vulnerability and resilience as well as analytic review of management frameworks that structure the assessment of hazards and their impacts on society.

Participants will learn industry best practices for identifying hazards and understanding their specific risks they pose to different communities or organizations. Each participant will work on a final project specific to their own community.

Target Audience

  • Members of emergency management and health/safety program committees
  • Emergency Management Managers, Coordinators, Administrators and Responders
  • Personnel responsible for developing, maintaining and implementing emergency management or response within their organization (for example:
  • EmergencyServices, Private and Public Sectors, Indigenous, Governmental and Non-Governmental Organizations, etc.)

Certification

Examination requiring 75% for award of Certificate of Completion.
